Welcome to Year 3 and 4!

We have an exciting year planned with a range of opportunities ahead to support your child's learning. 

This year, we'll be exploring the enchanting worlds of literature with books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Boy at the Back of the Class, and The Last Bear. These captivating stories will not only ignite your child's imagination but also encourage a love for reading and a lifelong appreciation of literature. We look forward to embarking on these literary adventures together with your young reader!

This winter, we'll be honing our sports skills playing golf and finding our balance in gymnastics lessons. But the fun doesn't stop there; we have a range of exciting sports festivals and competitions planned, including hockey, orienteering, football and golf. These events will not only promote teamwork and healthy competition but also provide an opportunity for your child to stay active and enjoy the benefits of physical fitness. We will also be supporting our town's Lit Fest with some exciting events coming soon.

We will regularly keep in contact by Class Dojo and please feel free to talk to us at the end of the school day, our doors are always open!

PE days:

Please send your child in prepared for PE on the following days:

Mallard: Wednesday (indoors) and Friday (outdoors)

Swallowtail: Monday (outdoors) and Tuesday (indoors)

Teal: Wednesday (outdoors) and Thursday (indoors)

 

Homework:

In year 3 and 4, we expect every child to read at home at least three times a week (research shows this frequency makes the most impact). This can be a mixture of school reading books that are sent home and reading for pleasure. We would like you to encourage your child to read at every opportunity and record it on Learning with Parents, our digital reading log. It is also expected that every child spends a minimum of 15 minutes practising their times tables on TTRockstars at home four times each week.
