Teal and Mallard

Welcome to Year 4!

We have an exciting year planned with a range of opportunities ahead to support your child's learning.

This year, we'll be exploring the enchanting worlds of literature with books like "Why The Whales Came," "The Boy At the Back of the Class," and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." These captivating stories will not only ignite your child's imagination but also encourage a love for reading and a lifelong appreciation of literature. We look forward to embarking on these literary adventures together with your young reader!

This winter, we'll be diving into swimming lessons to enhance your child's aquatic skills. But the fun doesn't stop there; we have a range of thrilling sports festivals and competitions planned, including hockey, orienteering, football, and golf. These events will not only promote teamwork and healthy competition but also provide an opportunity for your child to stay active and enjoy the benefits of physical fitness.

To top off a fantastic year, in June,  all  children will be able to enjoy a three-day residential experience at Braeside Outdoor Education Centre.

We will regularly keep in contact by Class Dojo and please feel free to talk to us at the end of the school day, our doors are always open!

Homework:

In year 4, we expect every child to read at home 4 times a week. This can be a mixture of school reading books that are sent home and reading for pleasure. We would like you to encourage your child to read at every opportunity.

Visiting libraries and bookshops is crucial. Please send us a photo on Classdojo if you do!

TT Rockstars:

It is expected that 15 minutes of times table practice is carried out at home each week. Every child will have their login in the front of their reading records. If you are experiencing difficulty in accessing the site, please bring your device into school and let an IT expert help you out.
